Weddings At St. Mary’s
We are a proud supporter of Equal Marriage,
and would be delighted to host your wedding ceremony.
General Information
St Mary’s is part of the Scottish Episcopal Church which in turn is part of the Anglican Communion and thus a sister church to the Church of England, the Episcopal Church in America and the Anglican Church in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa (to name a few).
Most weddings are conducted at St Mary’s under the auspices of the Scottish Episcopal Church, but is also used for Church of Scotland and Roman Catholic weddings (and others), and we are happy for you to use your own minister/priest if you so wish. Please discuss with our Wedding Co-ordinator. There are no ‘residency’ requirements, i.e., you do not have to be resident in the parish nor members of the congregation to be married in St Mary’s Dalmahoy.
We are a proud supporter of Equal Marriage, and would be delighted to host your wedding ceremony.
The church building seats 110 people and no more than 125, with folk standing. It also has step-free disabled access and an induction loop for those with suitable hearing aids.
The church has an excellent pipe organ. Our resident organist is available to play at weddings if required. The rules regarding all types of wedding music allowed at St Mary’s is available upon request.
Re-Marriage
The re-marriage of divorcees is usually quite straightforward. There will be an extra form to fill in and a short auto-biography to write. Please talk to one of the ministry team about it.
Facilities
There are no toilet facilities in the church, but there are full facilities including baby-changing equipment in the Douglas Hall (St Mary’s Church Hall by the car park), which are fully available during any services.
There is a cold water tap (drinking water) and a sink in the church vestry and a tap on the outside of the north wall.
